Where to volunteer - Camp Dorothy Walls AME Zion 495 Cragmont Rd Black Mountain, NC 28711. They now have electric and finally running water but it’s too contaminated to even wash their hands with. They have dual operations set up here. The owner of the property has donated the space for the volunteers. One portion is a church and the other is boots on the ground rescue and assistance. This is lead by a grassroots movement that can be found on Facebook at Moonshine Mellie along with on Facebook at ARG Rigging & Rescue Relief, Inc who has started the Moonshine Relief Foundation. Again, they are super local boots on the ground with. Right now they have all volunteers(many former military) from all over the country based at the Camp Dorothy address, but can use many more people willing to get out there in the community and assist. They are going out on daily missions to help the locals in some of the most hardest to reach places as well as those within the general town. FEMA has one person on site now directing two IT people to help locate those in need and then these volunteers go out and do everything from rescues, to tree removal or check-ins for medical issues. If anyone wants to volunteer to be boots on the ground, volunteer with equipment, donate equipment, or help with logistics at Camp Dorthy, the best contact I was given is a gentleman on site who is trying to get everyone the right info and up to date info online is Connor with ARG Rigging & Rescue Relief +1 (828) 772-5019. Hey Everyone. Loyal Construction and Services LLC ( John & Dan) has rented a 26’ U-Haul to load with several pallets of water to bring down to Asheville, NC Wednesday night. While down there, they will also be assisting to help areas in need. It would be great to fill the truck to capacity.
